Populating Lemuria

Soul Food has a long history of providing free space for artists and writers. You can also meet and mingle with older patrons and visit the rooms they had at Soul Food.
Heather Blakey is passionate about populating Lemuria, an exciting cyber colony, an allegorical world where writers and artists undertake journeys to meet the unlived artist within.
Once you have engaged in the Pythian Games and understand the interactive nature of Soul Food it becomes possible to subscribe and go deeper in to the imaginary writing
world of Lemuria.
Lemuria is a quite complex Web 2.0 enviromnent and new parts of this realm are constantly being charted and populated by artists and writers. Soul Food and Lemuria are built on the Dali principle that "you have to systematically create confusion to set creativity free."
There is now a monthly subscription fee of $20, paid via Pay Pal, to go through the portal, travel the Serpentine Road and work in a group and with le Enchanteur. Contact heatherblakey at fastmail.fm for more information about subscribing.
Global Teacher and Global Student
Heather Blakey manages Global Teacher and Global Student, an initiative of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and SLAV. These blogging environments provide a place for teachers to locate resources, create their own blogs and celebrate the work that is happening in their schools. Under Blakey's guidance, schools are building directories of their own. eJourney's With Technokids is an example of one such collective.
Praise for Soul Food
"I've quietly watched from the sidelines an amazing thing going on over at Heather Blakey's Soul Food Cafe during the last year. This passionately creative woman, writing teacher, mentor-to-many, and non-stop imagineer has pulled off something so significant, so wonderful, so nurturing to writers and artists of all shapes and sizes. I can't even put it into words. So I did the best next thing. I asked Heather to put it into her own words. And still, she shares the wealth. Curious?" by Chris Dunmire 2006
"Midlife is the perfect time to reinvent yourself. You have the hard-earned wisdom of aging, the kids are (hopefully) out of the house, and if you’re lucky, a tiny bit more money than you had when you were 20. It’s time to stretch your wings and try something new, something exciting, something … creative!
“But I’m not creative,” you say. Au contraire."
In the first, of a three part series, Karen Roberts writes about the creative world of Soul Food and Lemuria.
Heather introduced me to the metaphorical side of my "career life" and led me down a path of deep reflection towards realizing just how meaningful every single detail is.
